So David Parker continues his war on Lexington schools. Just like Bill O'Reilly's war on Christmas it is a made up conflict. He is everywhere, in a newspaper article stating his fight is not over with Lexington, he is up in Maine speaking against gay rights, and he is on the radio spouting that the Lexington schools are teaching homosexuality to 5-year-olds and they must be stopped. He appeared on WRKO talk radio from 10 to noon on Dec. 23.
I was struck by two calls in particular. The theme was consistent and typifies a particular point. One caller asked Mr. Parker to provide an example of when homosexuality was taught in the elementary classroom. Mr. Parker stated in a condescending manner, that there was no way for him to provide an example because there is not a notification process to let him know. The caller stated quizzically, "so you have no examples of what you find objectionable happening in the classrooms?" Agitated, Mr. Parker said he did not know what goes on in the classroom.
A second caller, somewhat miffed at Mr. Parker's assertions without facts, stated that she and other involved parents and the teachers and the administrators know what goes on in the classroom. This caller went on to affirm that nothing that he characterizes goes on in the classroom and that he was being hurtful to the community with his accusations. Mr. Parker then replied indignantly something to the effect that he had a job and had to work 40-50 hours a week, implying that he could not be that involved. Please note, he stated this fact from his studio chair on WRKO mid-morning, while school was in session in Lexington.
So this is just Mr. Parker's war on Lexington Schools. It is just a made up thing. He tells all that Lexington is not providing him with parental notification. What he has finally said is that he wants this notification for non-existent events.
Bill O'Reilly created his war on Christmas for TV ratings and money. Who knows what motivates Mr. Parker?
